What is Light Tape?

Claimed by its American manufacturers - Electro-LuminX® Lighting Corporation - to be the brightest and longest electroluminescent lamp in the world, Light Tape is a premium quality product which has many uses, in many industries - architectural lighting, modern interiors and signage are just the obvious ones.

This innovative product has already been used for a huge variety of applications, from highlighting architectural details to illuminated signage.

 Light Tape

Light Tape® is only 0.020" thick (0.5mm), and can be up to 300 feet (approx 91 metres) long!  It is powered by a special ballast wired to one end. It can be dimmed or flashed repeatedly, and can be seen from up to five miles away!

Light Tape® is available in a range of standard colours, in widths from 0.25 inches (6mm) to 2 feet (600mm).  Two versions are available, one for indoors, one for outside.

We can also supply EL panels and custom cut shapes - so if you require something more complex than a simple strip of EL material, we can help.

The new exterior Xtreme Series takes advantage of Sylvania's premium quality light emitting phosphors and Honeywell International's Clarus® Barrier Films. The patented UV barrier formulations deliver unprecedented brightness while the barrier films add an extra layer of protection around lamps. The combination ensures years of service even in the harshest environments.

What is Electroluminescence?

Electroluminescence (EL) is a means of generating light by the electrical excitation of light emitting phosphors. Similar to how Plasma televisions are backlit today. In this case, the light emitting phosphors are located between two electrically conductive plates. Applying an alternating (A.C.) current activates the system producing light. One of the electrodes consists of a light transmissive conductive material allowing the light to escape.

Coming Soon:

We will shortly have available completely waterproof Light Tape - so it can be installed underwater, in ponds and water features.   Please ask for more information.
